The 24th COVID-19 death was reported in the City of Grande Prairie yesterday, as 42 new cases of the virus were identified.

As of March 30, 2021, there are 272 active cases of COVID-19 in the City of Grande Prairie, which brings the total to 2,123, with 1,827 recovered. 

In the County of Grande Prairie, there are 104 active cases, for a total of 649 cases, with 541 recovered.

Provincially, Alberta has 8,350 active cases of COVID-19, and a total of 137,992 recovered cases. There were 871 new cases identified following the completion of 13,739 tests, with a positivity rate of 6.3 per cent.

There’s 301 people in the hospital with the virus, with 63 of these in intensive care. In the North Zone, 27 people are in hospital, five of whom are in intensive care. Three new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, including the death in Grande Prairie.

Alberta has identified 406 additional cases of variants of concern, bringing the provincial total to 2,660. In the North Zone, 219 cases of the UK variant have been identified. 

There have now been 634,997 vaccine doses administered as of March 30, this includes 101,298 people being fully vaccinated.

Alberta had an R value, or reproduction number, of 1.09 (1.06-1.12) from March 22 to 28. The Edmonton Zone had a value of 1.10 (1.03-1.18), Calgary Zone was 1.12(1.07-1.16) and the rest of Alberta was 1.04 (0.98-1.09).
