Six individuals and three organizations were honoured for their outstanding contributions to local social services at today’s 18th annual Passionate Heart Awards ceremony. 

The awards, which celebrate people, teams and businesses that make a difference in their communities by enhancing social services or generally improving quality of life in the region, are sponsored by Family Community Support Services (FCSS) in the City of Grande Prairie, County of Grande Prairie, and towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith, and Wembley. 

 

2024 Award Recipients: 

·         Passionate Heart Exceptional Service Award: 

o    Russ Snoble, Chair of the Board of Trustees - Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools 

o    Val Muggaberg, Grade 3 Teacher - Robert W. Zahara School 

o    Wilma Pol, Educational Assistant and Kindergarten Instructor -  La Glace School 

o    Soleil Molloy, Program Manager - Mountain Plains Community Services Society of the North  

o    Mercedes Mwemera, Casework Generalist - Western Cree Tribal Council Child Youth and Family Enhancement 
 

·         Passionate Heart Exceptional Business Award: 

o    Boston Pizza Westgate 
 

·         Passionate Heart Exceptional Team Award: 

o    Grande Prairie Friendship Centre - One Window Resource 

o    Cairn Housing Society 
 

·         Chris Henderson Lifetime Service Award: 

o    Tammy Ouellette, Facilitator and Director - Centerpoint Facilitation Inc.

"In recent years, the indispensable role of social services in our community has grown more pronounced," says County of Grande Prairie Reeve Bob Marshall. "It's evident that extraordinary individuals, teams, and businesses are weaving the fabric of compassion and support in our neighbourhoods, truly making a difference."

Recognizing the vital role of social services, these awards underscore the profound impact that collective efforts can have on the lives of residents.
