After announcing this morning that a search was being conducted in York Landing, RCMP have concluded their search in that area.

This afternoon, RCMP says in a Facebook post, "After a thorough and exhaustive search, RCMP has not been able to substantiate the tip in York Landing."

RCMP had received tips that the two males currently on the run for three murders in northern British Columbia, Kam Mcleod and Bryer Schmegelsky, were perhaps no longer int he Gillam, Manitoba area as they had been believed to be for the last week.

This morning, Cpl. Julie Courchaine had announced that officers on the ground had not made contact with the individuals who were reportedly seen at the York Landing landfill.

"As such, the RCMP is not yet in a position to confirm that these are the wanted suspects." She says the RCMP's goal now is to "safely locate and apprehend the individuals and confirm their identities."

The RCMP have not been able to substantiate any of the nearly 200 tips they have received and says they will continue to be in the York Landing and Gillam areas while using the resources available to them in both locations.

RCMP says, "We thank the community for their patience and understanding and ask them to continue to be vigilant."

The search for Mcleod and Schmegelsky continues.
