Winnipeg Airport Services Corp. (WASCO), is partnering with the City of Dawson Creek to provide airport management services for the next three years at Dawson Creek Regional Airport (YDQ).

This is an extension of a one-year agreement the City and WASCO signed last year.

WASCO, the subsidiary of Winnipeg Airports Authority (WAA) provides aviation services at 33 different airports across Canada. The Dawson Creek airport is its second B.C. client and third Canadian airport to receive airport management services.

Michael O’Gorman, Managing Director of WASCO, says, “Our team has spent time touring Dawson Creek Airport to evaluate the areas where we can add the greatest value. This partnership is an exciting opportunity for us to implement meaningful change for operational compliance, exceeding industry standards and carrying out our strategic business plan to build a strong foundation at YDQ.”

The goal of airport management services is to work with airport staff, providing technical guidance and operating a safe and efficient airport environment.

“The City of Dawson Creek welcomes this partnership agreement with WASCO to help the airport reach its full potential and best serve our community,” said Dale Bumstead, Mayor of Dawson Creek.

“We look forward to seeing what the next three years will bring under WASCO’s leadership to help YDQ flourish for the benefit of the entire Peace River Region.”
