A air quality statement has been issued by Environment Canada for the Peace Country.

Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility in the Grande Prairie area today. 

BC Regions are being impacted or are likely to be impacted by wildfire smoke over the next 24-48 hours. Localized impacts continue in the Southern and Central Interior. Easterly winds continue to transport smoke from the Southern Interior towards the Lower Mainland and the Island, causing hazy conditions with some regions more heavily impacted.

A heat warning has also been issued for Dawson Creek and Fort St John today. 

A ridge of high pressure will continue to bring rising temperatures to the region. Daytime highs in the low 30s and overnight lows near 14 degrees Celsius are expected now through Tuesday.

Temperatures are forecast to lower on Wednesday.
