The World Health Organization is releasing a book to help young ones understand the pandemic.

Pairing with UNICEF, the Red Cross, and more than fifty other organizations, My Hero is You is aimed at children aged 6-11 years old.

My Hero is You is about a young girl and a friend travelling across the world, learning about COVID-19. (WHO/Facebook)"This book is a story about friendship, hope and kindness," artist Howard Donald says during a reading of the book.

The book explains what COVID-19 is, and how kids can "fight" the virus.

“All over the world, children’s lives have been completely upended — the majority of them living in countries with some form of restricted movement or lockdown," UNICEF's Executive Director Henrietta Fore says. "This wonderful book helps children understand and navigate this new landscape and learn how they can take small actions to become the heroes in their own stories."

The free book encourages young ones to wash their hands and distance themselves from others.

WHO's book reminds young ones that they can call their loved ones to check on them.

To help children cope with the anxiety, the book recommends children think of happy memories and talk to their family.

My Hero is You is currently available in six languages with aims to become available in over 30 languages.
