According to the most-downloaded Bible app, YouVersion, the most shared Bible verse of 2022 around the world shows how people have felt and what is bringing them comfort.

The app just announced that the most shared Bible verse this year is Isaiah 41:10, which says, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

This same verse made the top spot in the app during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

"The popularity of this verse speaks to our desire to be reminded that even when we feel like we're alone in our struggles, we're not," says Bobby Gruenewald, founder and CEO of YouVersion in an interview. "As this verse says, God is our strength, and He's always with us."

Over 2022 YouVersion had an increase in use in some countries, with Cuba seeing the highest rate of use, jumping 76 per cent. Europe and Africa had the fastest regional growth for Bible engagement.

As the app offers the Bible in 1,900 languages, they also report seeing a huge increase in people using the Ukrainian language with Germany seeing a 733 per cent increase and Poland seeing a 241 per cent increase. This comes after many Ukrainians fled their home country as Russia invaded Ukraine

"These families are going through something most of us can't imagine. In the middle of what's likely the most difficult time of their lives, they're turning to the Bible for comfort, peace, and hope," says Gruenewald. "It's an honor that we get to be a part of making God's Word available to His people in their greatest moments of need."
