During the outbreak of COVID-19 Premier Jason Kenney has said the Government of Alberta will continue to support those who are helping shelter the homeless.

"Our number one priority is to ensure the health and safety of all Albertans. I am thankful our homeless-servicing agencies are there to help protect our most vulnerable populations. We will continue to support them through this challenging time." Kenney said in a release.

The Government is providing $25 million to support those homeless-servicing agencies during the COVID-19 response.

During this time the Government has said they are working closely with municipalities and homeless shelters across the province to create more capacity and meet the local needs.

Minister of Community and Social Services, Rajan Sawhney says they are taking this very seriously and will continue to do so.

“Our government is taking COVID-19 seriously and we will do whatever it takes to protect the health and safety of all Albertans. We are working quickly to help municipalities and homeless-serving agencies respond to this pandemic to protect the health and safety of vulnerable Albertans and staff.”
