The County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings are letting fans know that with the new targeted restrictions, they won’t be playing games this weekend.

Premier Kenney announced yesterday (Nov. 12) a two-week ban starting Nov. 13 on indoor group fitness classes, team sport activities and group performance activities in Edmonton and surrounding areas, Calgary and surrounding areas, Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Red Deer and Lethbridge.

The Northwest Junior Hockey League’s (NWJHL) regular season was to start today, Nov. 13, with the first game series seeing JDA Kings vs the Navigators, Jr Canucks vs the Huskies and the Flyers vs the Vipers.

The Kings have said that those who paid for tickets for the home game tomorrow night will receive refunds via e-transfer.

For now, they’ve just been shut down for the weekend and hope to have more answers early next week.

They share on Twitter, “Thank you all for your tremendous support and stay positive and hopefully we will be back on the ice in no time!”
