Premier Jason Kenney and Education Minister Adriana LaGrange put together a video this week to congratulate 2020 high school graduates.

Kenney says, "On behalf of the Government of Alberta, we'd like to congratulate all of our grade 12 students across the province who are matriculating this year, graduating from grade 12.”

The two are standing in the legislature grounds. Kenney comments that normally this time of year the grounds are full of students in their gowns, taking pictures and celebrating, but that can’t be the case this year with the public health measures in place.

He says, “But that doesn’t diminish in any way the achievement of the grade 12 students and they hope for the future as they graduate this time of year.”

LaGrange adds her comments, “Class of 2020, I know that you’re probably very disappointed that you aren’t able to graduate as other classes have graduated before you, but that shouldn’t diminish the extraordinary accomplishments that you have been able to achieve. I want you to go and celebrate in whatever way you can.”

“Please do not stop from celebrating this tremendous, tremendous achievement. We are so very, very proud of you, as is the whole province.”

Kenney thanks administrators, teachers, parents and principals who have come up with creative ways to celebrate their graduates.
