On Nov. 5, Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) executed a search warrant and seized drugs and cash, after locating a wanted man.
Tyrone Wiebe, 27, of Grande Prairie, was found in a hotel in Clairmont by Grande Prairie RCMP CRU, with assistance from the Police Dog Service (PDS). Following a brief foot chase, Wiebe was arrested for 27 outstanding warrants, which included discharging a firearm with intent.
Upon his arrest, police located the following items on Wiebe:
- over $3000 in Canadian currency
- 2 shotgun shells
- 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine
- 3 grams of suspected heroin
Further investigation resulted in police obtaining a search warrant for the hotel room, where approximately 100 ml of GHB was located.
Wiebe has been charged with the following:
- Resisting arrest
- Four counts of failing to comply with a release order
- Two counts of breach of a weapons prohibition
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of heroin
- Possession of property obtained by crime
Wiebe is scheduled to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on Dec. 9.
