With Christmas just around the corner, the Fort St. John Salvation Army is gearing up for their annual Kettle Campaign.

The campaign is their biggest fund-raising initiative throughout the year and plays a huge role in the work they’re able to do in the community.

Executive Director of the Fort St. John, Salvation Army, Jared Braun says, “We're putting a big goal out for our Kettle campaign to try and raise $110,000 here in Fort St. John, and financial donations are definitely the most significant. But there's lots of other ways people can contribute and help with the campaign as well.”

Volunteers are also a vital part of the success of the campaign. Braun says those friendly smiling people that greet you at all the different stores around the community at Christmas, spending time with the Kettles, they couldn’t do what they do without them.

The organization is looking to fill nearly 1300 shifts over the Christmas season.

Braun says, “Pretty much anyone can volunteer. We love having families with kids, we love having seniors, it’s also great getting the business community involved, challenging your fellow employees, sports clubs, or community groups. It’s a great way to really get out there and engage in the community and connect with your neighbors.”

This year’s Kettle Campaign in Fort St. John runs from November 14th until December 24.
