Work is underway to grade, base and pave Range Road 61 from Canfor Road south for 0.3 km to the existing pavement. The anticipated completion date of the project is mid-October, weather dependent.

Grading involves digging out an existing road structure to re-align level or widen the road, and building a new road from the bottom up. Base and paving work involves removing the top layer of gravel, repairing the base of the road if needed, then packing of the current road surface, and paving a layer of asphalt.

Traffic may experience minor delays over the duration of the project. Speed will be reduced in the construction zone. As well, traffic may be reduced to a single alternating lane in the area of construction. Motorists are advised to obey all signs, flag persons, exercise extreme caution when travelling through the site and near crews and equipment, and allow extra time for travel.

Please see attached for the project map. The pink line indicates where the road construction will be taking place.

The County is investing a total of $37.4 million in 2018 on capital road projects, and an additional $20 million over 2017 and 2018 on road improvements in all nine divisions of the County.
