The province has added 967 new cases of COVID-19 today (Jan. 14), from 16,219 tests completed, for a positivity rate of about 6%. 

Right now, 12,434 cases are active in the province. With 1,350 more people recovering, the recovered total has reached 100,762. 

There’s 806 people in the hospital with the virus, with 136 of these in intensive care. This is 14 fewer hospitalizations than reported yesterday, and one fewer ICU admission. In the North Zone, there’s 77 people in the hospital with eight of these admitted to intensive care. 

Alberta has reported 21 more COVID-related deaths, for a total of 1,389 since the start of the pandemic.  

In the City of Grande Prairie, 28 new cases were added, and five people recovered. The active total is 187 with 776 recoveries. There was one more death reported today, for a total of 12 since the start of the pandemic.  

In the County of Grande Prairie, two cases were added, and one person recovered. There’s now 48 active cases and 236 recoveries. A death was added in the County as well, which is the third death in the County.  

Both of the deaths were related to the outbreak at Prairie Lake Supportive Living. On Jan. 6, a man in his 50s passed away, and a man in his 90s passed away on Jan. 12.
