On Feb. 18, Grande Prairie RCMP received a report of an armed robbery and forcible confinement that had occurred on Horse Lake First Nation.

Beaverlodge RCMP launched an investigation in coordination with Grande Prairie RCMP and Grande Prairie General Investigation Section.

On Feb. 22, Beaverlodge RCMP, with the assistance of Grande Prairie RCMP Police Dog Service and the Grande Prairie RCMP Forensic Investigation Section, executed a search warrant at a residence on Horse Lake First Nations.

Tyler Justin Horseman, 33, of Horse Lake First Nations was arrested on Feb. 22, and is facing seven charges including:

  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Forcible confinement
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Two counts of possession of weapon contrary to order

While still in the area following the search warrant, officers received a call from the public regarding the whereabouts of the second suspect in this investigation. The second suspect was located a short time later and RCMP attempted a traffic stop; however, the suspect did not stop and continued driving in a dangerous manner through a nearby field, resulting in the vehicle getting stuck.

RCMP conducted a high-risk vehicle stop and arrested the second suspect, Braydan Morrison. Upon searching the vehicle, a loaded prohibited shotgun was located.

As a result of this investigation, Braydan Michael Morrison, 21, of Grande Prairie, is facing 19 charges including:

  • Robbery with a firearm
  • Forcible confinement
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Theft of a motor vehicle

Following a judicial hearing, both Morrison and Horseman were remanded into custody to appear in Grande Prairie Provincial Court on March 3.

The Beaverlodge RCMP would like to thank the community members for their assistance as it was integral in helping police to solve this investigation.
