The Prime Minister says health care workers across Canada can expect the flow of medical supplies, like N-95 masks will continue to flow.

Justin Trudeau, says they, the U.S. and 3M, who make the masks, hammered out a deal over the last couple of days to ensure the supply keeps coming to Canadian health care workers.

"While we're working to secure critical equipment from Canadian sources, we're also in touch with other suppliers around the world, who want to sell to Canada. We're expecting 500,000 masks from 3M Wednesday (April 8), and we're working as fast as we can to get them to our frontline workers."

U.S. President, Donald Trump, had ordered 3M, not to export any masks to Canada and Mexico, but Trudeau and others managed to work behind the scenes to secure a continuing supply from the company.

In the meantime, The federal government continue to push through their wage subsidy legislation.

The Prime Minister says they're working with the opposition parties to get the money flowing as quickly as possible.

"Our government proactively shared our proposed legislation on wage subsidy with opposition parties. I know house leaders will be speaking throughout the day to reach and agreement with the House of Commons to quickly pass this legislation which will give much needed financial support to Canadian workers, while helping employers to keep their staff on the payroll."

The wage subsidy plan would see the feds pay up to 75 per cent of a workers salary.

The plan needs parliamentary approval.

Meanwhile, 790,000 emergency relief payment applications were approved Monday, April 6, on the first day applications were being accepted.

Justin Trudeau, tipped his hat to government workers who he says are going above and beyond to make sure Canadians applying for the funds can get them as quickly as possible.

"I want to recognize the tremendous work done by the public service, who've processed hundreds of thousands of claims. They're working around the clock to get Canadians the help they need as quickly as possible. And I also want to remind everyone that if you were born in April, May or June. Today's (Tuesday, April 8), the day you can apply."

The $2,000 per month benefit is available for up to 16 weeks and is being extended automatically to anyone already receiving employment insurance benefits.
