Starting June 16 the City of Grande Prairie’s Parks crews are removing or modifying select dead tree snags located close to the asphalt trail in the Muskoseepi Corridor between 84 Avenue and 68 Avenue.

The trees have been evaluated for hazard potential and by the City’s Certified Arborists and are being entirely or partially removed to create wildlife habitat.

Modification involves removal of the top section of the tree to mitigate and reduce hazards while retaining a portion of the tree for wildlife habitat. This retained portion is key to enhancing wildlife diversity in the urban natural forest.

Residents are encouraged to avoid the area if possible and obey any signs, barricades, and traffic control.
