Starting Tuesday, May 21 until mid-June (weather permitting), contractors will begin work on land in the area south of Grande Prairie, between Peace Area Riding for the Disabled (PARDS) and Pine Valley South rural subdivision. The work involves removing dead pine beetle-infested trees from 20 hectares of pine stands.

The removal of the trees will reduce the risk of wildfire by reducing the fuel load in pine stands that were previously infested by the Mountain Pine Beetle.

Warning signs notifying the public that work is underway will be posted on all roads and trails in the work area. Work can occur on any day of the week, including weekends and holidays.

Over the duration of this project, for safety reasons, the County highly recommends residents, businesses and the public avoid the area and refrain from using off-highway vehicles on the trails.
