The Library of Things at the Grande Prairie Public Library offers endless possibilities including an automotive code reader and a Strider bike. Now, the community will be able to borrow an AED unit, thanks to the Regional EMS Foundation.

The Regional EMS Foundation reached out to GPPL after the Library of Things launched this past spring.

“With the AED for LIFE Campaign we are continually looking for spaces to place AEDs where they have the most impact,” says Cheryl Weaver, Regional EMS Foundation Chair. “The Library of Things, is a way to get a high end life-saving piece of equipment to large public groups that until now would not have had access.”

“The purpose of GPPL’s Library of Things is to provide access to items that the community can try before purchasing or will only use periodically,” says Deb Cryderman, GPPL Director. “The Zoll AED 3 is a perfect fit and we appreciate the opportunity to partner with the Regional EMS Foundation to make this unit available.”

“People who are holding gatherings such as family reunions, weddings or large wilderness outings can now come down to GPPL and borrow the AED. There is information provided and the best news about an AED, is it tells you exactly what to do,” says Weaver.

“The AED can be placed on hold by visiting our catalogue at gppl.ca and searching Zoll AED in direct quotes,” says Cryderman. “If you don’t have a free GPPL membership, visit us online or in person at the Montrose Cultural Centre.”

The Regional EMS Foundation has also donated AED units to other locations including the Whispering Ridge School and Wild Rose Manor. More information on the Regional EMS Foundation and AED placements can be found at remsfoundation.org
