Grande Prairie— November 15, 2018 — Today, The Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association’s local Destination Marketing Fund is proud to announce that former Olympian and host of the Amazing Race Canada, Jon Montgomery, will be the first keynote speaker at the 2019 Growing the North Conference held at Evergreen Park. “Bringing a speaker of this caliber is an investment in our region as we look to ‘Grow the North’. As the regional Destination Marketing Fund (DMF), we are excited to be involved in initiatives such as these and are proud to be supporting our community” said Jason Halwa, Chairman of The Grande Prairie and Region Destination Properties. Montgomery will be among a list of several other well accomplished individuals.

Jon Montgomery is a talented athlete, globally recognized as a gold medalist at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games. He has since transitioned into becoming the host of the Amazing Race Canada since its premier date in 2013. His accomplishments in both the athletic and television industry have made him an excellent choice to speak at the yearly conference.

The annual Growing the North Conference aims to inspire local leaders and entrepreneurs to examine and explore possible economic opportunities in Northwest Alberta and Northeast British Columbia. “I believe that Montgomery is a great example of hard work and innovation by transitioning from a professional athlete to a host of a show with many athletic elements. The Amazing Race Canada is a show that promotes the value of tourism and demonstrates the appeal of communities through their unique features and hidden gems,” said James Leppan, Executive Director of the Grande Prairie Regional Tourism Association. Montgomery’s unique insights and experiences are sure to be crowd captivating.
