The City of Grande Prairie is canvassing neighbourhoods starting the week of May 24 to update the property photo archive and to update tax assessment records.

Assessors will be updating photos of homes and performing exterior and interior property inspections to ensure accurate and up to date data.

To complete the interior inspections, assessors will be doorknocking, and with permission, taking quick walk-throughs of each property checking variations and structures to ensure the City files are accurate. If residents are not comfortable permitting a walk-through, assessors will ask a few questions at the door to try to gather the information. Residents may also re-book a walkthrough or complete a Request for Information to provide the information at a more convenient time.

All City assessors will be in vehicles marked with a City of Grande Prairie badge and will also have ID badges on hand.

Neighbourhoods being canvassed this year include:

-Arbour Hills

-Pinnacle Ridge

-O’Brien Lake

-Kensington

-Stone Ridge

-Grande Banks

-Westpointe

-Westgate

-Signature Falls

-Aspen Park

The photos and inspections are done every five years to create a record of any changes to properties over time and keep the files current and up to date.

The canvassing will be ongoing throughout the summer and conclude late August.
