One of Europe's most secular countries, France, is starting to show a genuine interest in God and faith once again.

Jonathan Roumie is the actor who plays the role of Jesus in the show. He was recently in France for the international premiere of the series.

"What an amazing turnout. The 500 or so people that were in attendance (as well as the thousands online) laughed, cried and cheered," says Roumie on Facebook.

The Chosen series is being made available in French, hence the premiere in Paris, France on Tuesday.

"The Chosen will appear on NATIONAL television in France is not remotely an event I could have ever predicted to see so soon! God is tilling the soil and sowing seeds for a fertile revival in this beautiful country," says Roumie.

As the main actor, playing the role of the Son of God, Roumie spent all day talking to reporters before the evening show.

"After a full day of interviews today with journalists from all over Europe it’s safe to say #France can’t wait to see The Chosen hit the airwaves on the national level; something of a miracle in what many reporters confessed was THE most secular/non-Christian country in all of Europe."

The series, made available to view on a downloaded app, is the highest crowd-funded TV series or film project to date.

"The show has already been changing hearts and minds in France everywhere. Now that it’s in her native language, the game will change considerably. Of this I’m sure."

With sales topping $8 million for 640,000 tickets, Christmas With The Chosen: The Messengers is now Fathom's best-selling and most highly attended event in its history. It played in over a thousand theatres across the U.S.A.

Before the movie played, there were a few musical performances shown. This included Phil Wickham's song 'Joy to the World (Joyful, Joyful)' performed on the set of The Chosen and featured Jordan Feliz, Bryan & Katie Torwalt, Maverick City, and The Bonner Family.
