GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB (Dec. 20, 2018): Following a ceremonial first ride with Grande Prairie Mayor Bill Given, TappCar – Canada’s third-largest rideshare company – officially launched operations in Grande Prairie.

Starting today, Grande Prairie residents who have downloaded the TappCar app will be able to see active drivers in their area, book rides and travel in a more sustainable way. The move marks the first entry of a major rideshare company to Grande Prairie’s growing business economy.

“This is a perfect match. TappCar couldn’t be happier to enter Grande Prairie’s dynamic, growing market,” TappCar spokesperson Cam MacKay said. “We see a tremendous future for rideshare in Grande Prairie, and we look forward to being a good business steward in this community for a long time to come.”

TappCar thanked Grande Prairie’s mayor, city councillors and city administrators for creating the right conditions for rideshare to come to the city.

“The city did this the right way and consumers will reap the rewards,” MacKay said. “The regulatory conditions here strike a strong balance between competition and sustainability, opening the door for new economies like rideshare to take shape. We believe in Grande Prairie, and we look forward to being part of this city, which is only going to get bigger and better from here.”
