Grande Prairie, AB (December 5, 2018): Grande Prairie residents will soon have a better way to get around with Tappcar announcing today that it will be launching operations in the growing northern city.

The third-largest rideshare company in Canada, TappCar said Grande Prairie’s business and regulatory conditions, as well as its vibrant population, made its decision to enter the local market an easy one.

“We are ecstatic to be the first rideshare company to enter the Grande Prairie market, which is young, vibrant and in need of more transportation choice,” TappCar spokesperson Tim Gerwing said. “Like we’ve successfully done in other Canadian jurisdictions, we hope to introduce a sustainable rideshare product that makes life better for local businesses and families.”

Gerwing said the company would soon be announcing a date for the city’s first ride.

Grande Prairie Mayor Bill Given said TappCar’s entry into the market signals an important, positive change for the city.

“Grande Prairie is known for embracing innovative approaches and we welcome solutions that increase mobility options for our residents,” Given said. “The transportation sector is undergoing a significant change that will impact the way we build our cities, the ways we move around them and how we live our lives. TappCar’s investment in our community signals that these new opportunities won’t pass Grande Prairie by.”

Gerwing said interested residents can already download the TappCar app on their Android or iOS devices.
