WEMBLEY, AB – Area residents are invited to flock to the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum to see the latest exceptional exhibit that’s landed at the venue.
Our Feathered Friends opened Sept. 29 and runs through Jan. 30. The travelling exhibit from the Canadian Museum of Nature includes several modern dinosaurs – species of birds that currently live in Albertans’ backyards.
Visitors can compare what makes birds unique from other animals today, how they are similar to their extinct dinosaur relatives, what they look and sound like, and learn how to use devices such as bird feeders to observe birds any time of the year.
“It’s very exciting to have non-fossil dinosaurs – that is birds – represented in the galleries at the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum,” says Derek Larson, Assistant Curator.
“Studying modern animals is a key to understanding the past, and we hope people will come away from the exhibit with a greater understanding of the world around them.”
The Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays to Sundays.
