Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is giving thanks to God for his life on and off the football field.
"My Christian faith plays a role in everything that I do," says Mahomes in a video with Sports Spectrum. "I always ask God to lead me in the right direction."
The video interview happened during a media event on Monday before the Superbowl.
"Obviously it'll be on the huge stage of the Superbowl that He's given me and I want to make sure that I'm glorifying Him while I do it."
The Superbowl took place in Glendale, Arizona Sunday night with the Chiefs winning 38-35 against the Philadelphia Eagles. This is the second time Mahomes has won the Superbowl as quarterback of the Chiefs. He also took home MVP after the championship game.
"I know that I am here for a reason, to glorify Him. It means everything, not only about my football career but all the decisions that I've made. I have a faith backing, and I know why I am here. It's not about winning football games. It's about glorifying Him. I think it gives me that I have no pressure when I step out on that football field; I know why I am here."

In previous interviews, Mahomes shared how growing up in the church prepared him to know what is most important in life.
"Obviously, I want to win every game, but I'm glorifying Him every single time I'm out there. As long as I'm doing everything the right way and the way that he would want me to do it, then I can walk off the field with my head held high and be able to be the man that I am."
