(County of GP April 2018 Flooding, Facebook)

The large amount of spring runoff has caused multiple roadways to wash out at locations throughout the County.

The following roads will be temporarily closed until further notice:

  • Township Road 724, between Range Road 30 and Range Road 31
  • Township Road 724A, from Highway 43 to Range Road 104

Meanwhile, a 50 per cent axle weight road ban remains in effect on all other County of Grande Prairie gravel roads 24 hours per day, until further notice.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution on rural roads; not move or bypass barricades that are in place; nor travel on closed roads as there may be hidden hazards including washouts and erosion.

Staff continue to monitor the impacts of spring runoff and provide updates as information becomes available. The County is urging residents and individuals travelling throughout the County to use extreme caution, especially during the night, as road conditions can change rapidly.
