On Monday, Feb. 15, the Chetwynd RCMP were advised via International Emergency Response Coordination Center of an injured snowmobiler.

With Search and Rescue, it was determined that there was a risk of an avalanche and they had to wait for an avalanche technician to assess the area. The injured snowmobiler needed to be rescued as soon as possible, so the Canadian Armed Forces 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron 19th wing Comox brought in a helicopter to perform a rescue.

While receiving constant updates with the snowmobiler, it was determined that they had been successful in getting to Search and Rescue base camp, at which point he was then airlifted
by the 442 Squadron to a hospital for his injuries.

This rescue would not be possible without the assistance of Search and Rescue, the members of 442 Squadron, victim services worker, and the members of the Chetwynd RCMP detachment.
