On Oct. 22, 2023, at 12:38 p.m., Slave Lake RCMP responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 2, approximately 28 kilometers south of Slave Lake.

Slave Lake RCMP, along with Fire Services and EMS attended the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates, a pick-up truck was travelling northbound on Highway 2 and crossed into the southbound lane colliding head-on with a southbound pick-up truck.  The 64-year-old female driver of the northbound pick-up, a resident of High Level, was pronounced deceased on scene.

The female driver of the southbound pickup was transported to Edmonton for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

RCMP want to remind drivers to use caution as winter driving conditions can suddenly appear this time of year on our roadways, sometimes without warning.

Slave Lake RCMP continue to investigate this collision and no further updates are anticipated.
