Bathymetric surveying and mapping is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 and continue for the rest of the month within the Bear Creek Reservoir.

A bathymetric survey must be undertaken to assess the reservoir’s ability to effectively control storm events. The data collected will assist in mapping the floor of the reservoir, depth of sediment and develop an updated flood plain mapping.

A two-person survey crew will be working along the shoreline while another crew will be mapping the reservoir using hydrographic echo sounders on an inflatable boat. Minimal noise and disruption is expected from the survey craft and ground crew. Adequate mitigation measures are in place in case protected wildlife is encountered.

The public is reminded that boating on the reservoir is not permitted.
