In the latest COVID-19 numbers from the province, there are 364 new cases of the virus reported Oct. 7, with 276 of these in Edmonton. This is from 16,408 tests completed. 

Currently, 77 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, 11 more than yesterday, with 13 of these in intensive care. Two more deaths were reported, for a total of 283. These were both patients at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary. 

In Grande Prairie, seven new cases were found and one person recovered. There’s now 25 active and 95 recoveries. The County had one new case; there’s five active and 60 recoveries.  

Clear Hills County identified two new cases, while County of Northern Lights, the MD of Lesser Slave River and the MD of Peace all had one new case. One person recovered in the MD of Peace and in Mackenzie County

Dr. Hinshaw announced today some new voluntary health measures to be put in place in Edmonton because of the increased cases numbers.  

These are decreasing the gathering limit to 15 for family and private gatherings, recommending masks be worn at all times in indoor work settings when not working alone, and limiting the number of cohorts people should be part of to three.
