The County of Grande Prairie is partnering with local schools to host two intergenerational luncheon events during Seniors’ Week.

County seniors are encouraged to register to attend the event closest to them:

  • Tuesday, June 6 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Clairmont Community School
  • Wednesday, June 7 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Hythe Regional School

The events are hosted by County Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) and local schools to provide students with an opportunity to celebrate and connect with seniors in their communities.

“The County is thrilled to bring seniors and young people together at this annual event to celebrate Seniors’ Week,” said County of Grande Prairie Reeve Bob Marshall. “These types of events help to build a greater understanding between generations and celebrate the important contributions of seniors in our communities.”

This year, Seniors' Week is from June 5 to 11.

Along with being served lunch, seniors can enjoy an afternoon of fellowship, entertainment, and activities. County Councillors will also be on hand to help serve lunch and participate in activities.

The events are free to attend. Registration is required by Thursday, June 1. RSVP to the Clairmont Community School event by contacting 780-567-2843 or wrc@countygp.ab.ca. RVSP to the Hythe Regional School event by contacting 780-933-7212 or agreene@countygp.ab.ca.
