Background

The City is incorporating lands annexed from the County of Grande Prairie in 2016, known as the Rural Service Area, into the City’s Land Use Bylaw. These lands are currently regulated by the County bylaw as it was on January 1, 2016, creating some administrative challenges and barriers to development.

The first phase of the project was adding rural standards and land use districts to the bylaw which was completed in April 2022. The current and second phase involves rezoning properties from the County bylaw to equivalent districts in the City.
