Grande Prairie RCMP would like to thank the public and area motorists for their patience and understanding while emergency services worked to clear the highway following a semi roll over. On Jan. 22, 2023 at 3:10 p.m., RCMP were advised by an off duty police officer that a semi and its load had left the road surface and rolled into the ditch off Highway 40 near Hwy 666. 

The lone occupant of the semi was uninjured, no fluids or environmental concerns were reported with this event. 

No further updates are anticipated for this incident.

Grande Prairie RCMP rural officers are currently on scene of a rollover on Highway 40 at secondary Hwy 666. A semi hauling rig mats on multiple flat deck trailers has rolled off the road surface, the trailers and rig matts are blocking all lanes of traffic. Travel in the area is restricted due to the rollover and motorists can expect delays for the next several hours. No injuries have been reported at this time.

RCMP recommend drivers avoid travel in this area if possible. If travel is necessary motorists are being asked to slow down and adjust their driving to road conditions.
