On Sunday, September 4, crews begin a full road reconstruction on the northbound lanes of 116 Street from 97 Avenue to 84 Avenue.

Northbound traffic is restricted to a single lane and the speed limit is reduced to 30 km/hour during construction. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution, watch for flag people and anticipate potential traffic delays.

Business access is expected to be maintained and all traffic detours will be marked.

The rehabilitation is taking place to bring the road up to current construction standards and accommodate high volumes of truck traffic and future increased traffic volumes.  It is anticipated that crews will operate from Monday to Saturday with work expected to be complete by mid-October.

About Road Work

In 2022, approximately $11 million is budgeted to be invested into the City’s road network. Major road work by the City occurs in three categories: road reconstruction, road overlay, and full-depth reclamation (FDR).
