Two additional road construction projects begin in Grande Prairie this week.
Richmond Industrial Area
The City of Grande Prairie begins construction in the Richmond Industrial Area on Wednesday, June 15, as part of the 2022 Road Rehabilitation Program.
The work planned for the area consists of an asphalt milling and replacement of existing road structure with a new pavement structure, some concrete work and minor storm sewer infrastructure repairs on:
- 112 Street between 97 Avenue and 96 Avenue
- 96 Avenue between 112 Street and 109 Street
- 109 Street between 97 Avenue and 96 Avenue
- 111 Street between 97 Avenue and 95 Avenue
- 95 Avenue between 111 Street and 110 Street
- 110 Street between 96 Avenue and 95 Avenue
It is anticipated that crews will operate from Monday to Saturday with work expected to be complete by the first week of August, weather permitting. Roadway access will be granted to local traffic only and short-term road closures are expected periodically.
Throughout construction, the posted speed limit will be reduced to 30km/h. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution, watch for flag people and anticipate potential traffic delays.
On Friday, June 17, road work will begin to repair the drive surface and base structure in the Westgate area on:
- 104 Avenue between 116 Street and 118 Street
- 118 Street between 101 Avenue and 104 Avenue
The work includes some concrete and storm sewer repairs, line painting, and landscaping.
Traffic is restricted to a single-lane and the speed limit is reduced to 30 km/hour during construction. Drivers are advised to proceed with caution, watch for flag people and anticipate potential traffic delays.
Pedestrian access is expected to be maintained along sidewalks and all traffic detours will be marked.
It is anticipated that crews will operate from Monday to Saturday with work expected to be complete by mid-July, weather permitting.
