On Saturday, March 23, Rising Above hosted their "Hope Lives" fundraising banquet at the Tara Centre.  There were over 760 people in attendance, the largest attendance for the annual event. A grand total of $354,196.55 was raised for the local non-profit; the most ever raised during a single event for the ministry.

“Our Peace Country people are supporters, they stepped up once again with us”, said Mel Sigglekow, Executive Director of Rising Above.

The event featured life-changing stories from those who have graduated from Rising Above’s 6-month residential treatment program, a live and silent auction, entertainment, and a dinner.

During the evening, it was announced that Rising Above Fort St. John will be opening on May 1, 2024 with the opening of a Peterborough, Ontario location on June 1, 2024.

Rising Above, in Grande Prairie, is set to start the construction of the new facility this year. The capital campaign is at 65 per cent of its $5 million-dollar fundraising goal. They are hoping to start construction of the facility this July. The new building will increase bed capacity for individuals seeking recovery and will come equipped with multiuse spaces, meeting rooms, office spaces, and opportunities for future development.
