Oliver's Funeral Home, local veterans, and emergency services will be at the Grande Prairie cemetery on Thursday, February 15th to put some retired flags to rest.

The annual ceremony has been taking place since 2016 as part of their retired flag program to honour our veterans and National Flag Day on February 15th.

The retired flag program is open to anyone with an old flag that has served its time, including flags from businesses or other provinces.

Pam Gault, Community Connections Coordinator with Oliver’s, says you can bring your flags anytime by February 9th to the front desk at Oliver's Funeral Home, to be lowered and buried at the ceremony.

The Retired Flag Commemoration will begin at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 15th at Oliver's Funeral Home. Everyone will go to the cemetery together, where the veterans will then lower and bury the flags, then return to Oliver's for lunch. This year’s guest speaker will be Duff Crerar.
