On February 5, 2020, the Town of Peace River held a non-binding referendum on whether residents are in favour of an independent non-profit organization taking over ownership and operation of the Peace River Regional Airport. 

The results are in and of the 163 votes, 130 (82%) were in favor of independent non-profit ownership, while 30 (18%) were not. 

"The Town of Peace River currently owns and operates the Peace River Regional Airport, which costs regional taxpayers over $740,000 per year. The Town is considering alternatives for ownership and management of the airport. All the options being considered to involve turning over operations and ownership to an independent, non-profit organization with a required commitment to preserving current services at the airport such as Air Ambulance and Forestry Services." Town of Peace River

The feedback received from the exit poll is being collated and a report will be going to Council on February 10, 2020.
