The City of Grande Prairie is hosting Neighbour Day on Saturday, September 17 with free entry to the Activity and Reception Centre from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Children can explore a range of free drop-in sports and activities at the facility including access to the skate park, badminton, pickleball, basketball and rock climbing.

Staff members from the City will be there to assist with the activities and distribute free cake and City of Grande Prairie swag.

The City is also encouraging residents to take part in Neighbour Day by hosting community activities to build stronger relationships with others in their neighbourhood.

Some examples of fun, easy activities to organize includes:

·A community barbecue or picnic

·A driveway or sidewalk art competition using sidewalk chalk

·Inviting a neighbour over for coffee

Scavenger Hunt Contest

A scavenger hunt is available on the GooseChase app leading up to Neighbour Day activities. The scavenger hunt begins on September 2 and ends at 11:59 p.m. on September 11.

Participants will be able to indicate which neighbourhood they live in, and the top three neighbourhoods with the most points will win a fun community prize pack for their Neighbour Day activities.
