On October 24, 2021, The Fort St John RCMP received a report of an overnight break and enter at the KFC with items being stolen.

This report came after a string of commercial break and enters to businesses and locked compounds over the past two weeks including a break and enter to KFC reported on October 16.

Fort St John RCMP attended to investigate and noted a similar pattern to previous break and enters. Through further investigation frontline police officers were able to identify a suspect and arrested Michael Underhill who was held in police custody until his initial appearance in court. Underhill is a prolific property crime offender and is known to police.

Charges have been approved against Michael Underhill for three counts of Break and Enter and one count of Possess Break in Tools in relation to two break and enters at KFC and the break and enter at Amanda's No Frills which occurred on October 6, 2021.

Underhill attended court on October 26 and has been remanded into custody until October 29, 2021 when he will reappear in court.

Fort St John RCMP continue to investigate the other recent break and enters and request any assistance from the public who may have seen any suspicious activities in the areas at the time or have any information about these events.  Please call the Fort St John RCMP at 250-787-8100 to report any information you may have.
