Ramona's Pizza in Grande Prairie announced on their Facebook page on Friday that one of their employees tested positive for COVID-19.  As a result, both city locations have been temporarily closed.

This new case in Grande Prairie follows individual new cases in the city on Wednesday and Thursday.  In Grande Prairie, there is a total of three active COVID-19 cases and three recovered. In the County, there is still one active case and four recovered.

Alberta’s COVID-19 hospitalization rates remain low with 54 people in hospital, six of whom are in intensive care. In total, 5,801 Albertans have recovered from COVID-19, leaving 865 active.

Of 3,205 tests completed in the last 24 hours, 32 were positive.

There have been two more deaths, bringing the toll to 134.

There are 83 active cases and 621 recovered cases at continuing care facilities; 100 facility residents have died.

Another update relating to COVID-19 in the province is that a significant decline in the number of actives cases in Calgary and Brooks means both cities can reopen more businesses starting May 25.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health, will provide her next update on Monday.
