Rachael Lampa became an overnight success when she was just 15 years old.

She spent years touring and recording before deciding to step away from her record label to find her true identity.

During those years she worked as a backup singer, joined an acapella group, nannied, got married, started up a non-profit with her family in Nashville and eventually became a mother.

"I do feel like, at this point in my life that I've got actual community and I've got a great husband. My siblings are all around me. We run a non-profit together," Rachael explains.

"I feel like back when I was young, all I did was my music, my career, my ministry. And now, I feel like there is so much more balance and I would much rather have it this way."

People Loving Nashville started 13 years ago when Rachael and her brother started to make meals for some of their friends downtown that were experiencing homelessness. She says their non-profit just grew and grew from there.

"Now we have this block party every Monday night and we feed about 4-500 people. Street barbers come out and give haircuts. We have shower trucks that come out and we are able to get people plugged into resources and eventually rehoused," says Rachael. "We also create community and consistency for those who don't have that option in their lives right now. So that's my heart."

She is now stepping back into the music scene. She recently took part in the Faithful Project alongside a group of powerful Christian women including Amy Grant, Ellie Holcomb, Ginny Owens and Christy Nockels

"It was so inspiring. I don't think I got enough of that interaction when I was younger. It was kind of a male-driven world. I was writing with guys and touring with guys," Rachael explains.

"Being around women who encourage each other and empower, was just so necessary, so needed, more of it is needed. I still can't believe that I got to be a part of that. "

Rachael is now in the process of releasing some new music as well as prepping for a tour.

Today on Connections, Rachael shares her amazing testimony and how she got to where she is today. She'll also share with us what it was like to work on the Faithful Project.
