The City of Grande Prairie invites members of the public to apply to serve on one of our boards, committees or commissions.

As public member representatives, successful applicants will assist in municipal operations through research and decision making on current issues. Members are appointed by Council for a term of three years, ending December 2021.

To qualify, applicants must be 18 years of age or older, residents of the Grande Prairie region and willing to meet the time commitments of the particular board for which you are interested.

The deadline to submit applications is Monday, November 12.

15 vacancies are currently available across the following Boards, Committees and Commissions:

  •  Arts Development Committee
  • Combative Sports Commission
  • Community Enhancement Advisory Committee
  • Grande Prairie Airport Commission
  • Grande Prairie Public Library Board
  • Pursuit of Excellence Committee
  • Revolution Place Advisory Board
  • Subdivision and Development Appeal Board

Boards, committees and commissions review material, weigh alternatives, and make recommendations to Council. Council is then able to make more informed decisions while substantially expediting the decision-making process. Some Boards, Committees and Commissions may also fill a quasi-judicial role, which means that the Committee has the authority to make decisions and judgments as provided for in the Municipal Government Act.
