The province is reporting 306 new COVID-19 cases today (Apr. 22), for a provincial total of 3,401. 1,310 of these are recovered.

There have been 5 new deaths in the province, for a total of 66.

There are no new cases identified in the City or County of Grande Prairie.

The first case in First Nation in Alberta has been identified in Sucker Creek. The person is a close contact of COVID-19 case from High Prairie. The community was prepared for dealing with COVID-19 and AHS is working with them.

They are also currently dealing with flooding from spring thaw. This is a larger issue for them currently.

As of today, there are 375 cases in continuing care centres across Alberta, and 44 deaths. 

There are now 32 cases confirmed connected to the Kearl Lake outbreak, 10 of these are in isolation at the camp. In addition, there are 7 cases being managed outside of the province.

Dr. Hinshaw encourages those who are healthy and able to help to volunteer in this difficult time.

She also encourages anyone with symptoms to get tested, as it helps the province to get an accurate picture of the current situation.
