In March, 2024, Peace Regional RCMP were alerted to suspicious transactions on fuel cards; transactions were occurring in several locations such as Grimshaw, Alta., Peace River, Alta. and Fairview Alta. Fuel transactions occurred over several months and amounted to over $20,000 worth of fuel.

Surveillance was obtained and in addition to the fuel, 2 stolen trailers were located at a property in Grimshaw which were recovered after a search warrant for the property was obtained.

Gessi Tywon James Larose (21), a resident of Grimshaw, was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime, over $5000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime, less than $5000 x 4
  • Theft over $5000 x 2
  • Misuse of credit card x 2
  • Failure to comply with release order condition x2
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Violation tickets under the Dangerous Goods Handling Regulation including: transport fuel except in fuel system or bus tank; transport dangerous goods in non-standard container; transport dangerous goods without safety marks; fail to produce dangerous goods training certificate x 2 for each ticket

Larose was brought before a Justice of the peace, where he was remanded with a court date of April 15, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Peace River.

This investigation is still ongoing and RCMP would like to extend gratitude to community members for their assistance thus far.
