On Aug. 10, 2023, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Peace Regional RCMP were dispatched to a report of an armed robbery in progress at the Fas Gas, located downtown Peace River. Investigation revealed that a male entered the Fas Gas, held a knife to the clerk and demanded money from the till. The male was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money and departed the area on foot.

Due to quick officer response, RCMP were able to contain the area and hold for Police Dog Services assistance. The suspect eventually called out to police advising he was in a nearby bush along the river bed. After a short confrontation with police, the male was safely taken into custody.

Darcey Lloyd Brett (25), a resident of Spruce Grove, Alta., has been charged with one count each of the following offences:

  • Robbery with Offensive Weapon
  • Disguise with Intent
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Resist Arrest

Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Darcey Brett has been released from custody on $500.00 cash bail with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Peace River on Sept. 11, 2023.

There was a second male accomplice who was outside the Fas Gas acting as a lookout. The second suspect is described as:

  • Light complexion
