The Slave Lake RCMP seized drugs and Canadian currency during a traffic stop on January 28 and subsequent residential search warrant on January 29, 2020.

During the night of January 28, officers were conducting targeted patrols in areas of Slave Lake known to have increased instances of crime and victimization when a suspicious vehicle was observed driving around.  Officers determined that the vehicle, a white sedan, had been reported stolen in Drayton Valley earlier in the day.  A traffic stop was conducted and four occupants of the vehicle were arrested for being in possession of the stolen car.  Inside the vehicle officers located methamphetamine, cocaine, oxycontin and Canadian currency.

Further investigation into the matter lead investigators to execute a judicially authorized search warrant at a residence in Slave Lake resulting in an additional seizure of illegal drugs on January 29, 2020.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is in excess of $80,000.

"A seizure of this magnitude in a community such as Slave Lake will have a significant impact on crime" says Staff Sergeant John Spaans of the Slave Lake Detachment. "Officers employed an analytical approach to their patrols, focussing on hot spots within the community. This approach was paramount in taking these drugs off of the street".

Braden Foster, age 29, Savannah Radcliff, age 21, and Tessa Dunsmore, age 25, of Slave Lake and Paige Ziegler, age 24, of Drayton Valley have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime and other Criminal Code offences.
