The Grande Spirit Foundation (GSF) says that residents of their lodges and apartments were quickly vaccinated when Alberta Health Services recently rolled out the latest phase of vaccinations.

Over 82% of residents were vaccinated in a short timeframe.

GSF General Manager Steve Madden said, “We do flu vaccinations for residents yearly, so we know the drill. We had the residents complete their paperwork and sign their release forms ahead of time so everything is streamlined when the AHS representatives show up.”

AHS and the GSF work in partnership with management at all of the facilities to ensure that residents have the support and medical care they require. In addition, AHS staff regularly visit the lodges to make sure everyone is being taken care of and listen to and concerns they may have.

GSF says that recently Grande Spirit residents completed a survey and over 89% are satisfied with the site and services. Pleasant View Lodge residents in Spirit River had a satisfaction rating of 94% and one resident stated, “My biggest complaint is I can’t figure out how the staff could treat me any better."

Madden says, “We couldn’t be happier that some restrictions are being lifted as isolation has been particularly difficult for seniors. Outside visits are once again permitted at the lodges and mother nature appears to be accommodating with some great weather.”

GSF is encouraging everyone to continue safe COVID-19 practices so we can see reduced spread of the virus and a more restrictions eased.
