Fifteen schools throughout Peace Wapiti Public School Division and sixteen schools in the Grande Prairie Public School District have registered to participate in the Student Vote Alberta. The goal of this program is to "bring the 2019 Alberta Provincial Election into classrooms, as a means of empowering students to experience the voting process firsthand" (PWSD)

Registering for the event means that schools will receive teaching material to help the students learn about government and the electoral process. Schools also receive posters and other election supplies such as voting screens, ballots and balllot boxes.

Students "are encouraged to research the issues, parties and candidates, and to During Student Vote Day, students fulfill the roles of election officers to coordinate a vote in their school" (PWSD).

According to Student Vote, "Students take on the role of deputy returning officers and poll clerks, and cast ballots for the official election candidates. The results are tabulated and shared publicly after the close of the official polls."
